Start with the vacancy circular
Read the department’s instructions and reference number before completing the form. Use the current official form and follow the submission method stated in the advert.
Different public entities, municipalities and state-owned companies may use their own recruitment systems. Never add a Z83 simply because an employer is publicly owned.
Complete it consistently
Make sure names, contact details, citizenship information and employment history agree with supporting documents. Answer required declaration questions and sign where instructed.
The advert determines which additional documents are required and when certified copies must be provided.
Decide first whether the Z83 belongs in the application
The DPSA Public Service Vacancy Circular directs applicants for covered public-service posts to use the current Z83 and include the vacancy reference. That does not make Z83 a universal “government jobs” form.
A municipality, public entity, state-owned company or private contractor may use a portal or its own form. Begin with the official advert and its submission instructions. Adding an unrequested Z83 can create confusion rather than compliance.
Confirm that the vacancy actually requires a Z83
The employer’s legal form matters more than the word “government” in a reposted headline.
Is the vacancy an applicable public-service post advertised by a department, with a current official circular or advert?
Does the source instruct applicants to use the current Z83 and provide the correct department destination?
Have you copied the exact post reference and completed declarations consistently with the CV?
Are you sending only the supporting documents requested at this stage, through the channel named in the advert?

The circular says enquiries and applications concern the advertising department; DPSA publishes the circular but does not recruit for every post.
